Maserati MC Edition Makes The V8-Powered Ghibli, Levante, And Quattroporte More Desirable

Maserati has released a new series of MC Editions for its V8-powered range of models including the Ghibli, Levant, and Quattroporte. MC stands for Maserati Corse, celebrating the racing heritage of the Trident Brand.

The MC Edition models are available in two exclusive colors – Giallo Corse, and Blu Vittoria. Giallo Corse is a three-layer yellow, while Blu Vittoria is a three-layer blue with a matte finish. Independent of the color choice, the MC Edition range gets Piano Black exterior details and a special badge on the fenders and B-Pillars. Maserati chose a set of 22-inch wheels for the Levante SUV and 21-inch wheels for the Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans, all finished in gloss black with blue-painted brake calipers.

Inside we find blue carbon fiber trim, alongside yellow and blue stitching on Nero Pienofiore black leather with denim accents. The MC Edition logo is embossed on the headrests with the colors of the Italian flag while a similar plaque can be found on the center console. Standard equipment includes the electronic sunroof, a Bowers & Wilkins sound system, and the Driver Assistance package.

Last Chance To Get The Ferrari-Sourced V8

Under the bonnet of the models lies the twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 engine producing 580 hp (433 kW / 588 PS) and 538 lb-ft (730 Nm) of torque, exclusively mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The Ferrari-sourced V8 lives on borrowed time since Maranello will stop supplying engines to Maserati from this year. This makes us believe that the MC Edition models could be the swan song of the V8 which is going to be replaced in the entire lineup by Maserati’s own V6 that was introduced last year in the MC20 supercar.

The MC Edition range will be available in EMEA, APAC, and China regions starting from February 2022. Chinese customers though won’t be getting the V8, but the smaller twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 with 345 hp (257 kW / 350 PS).
