Abarth 595 / 695 Range Gets Life Extension To 2023, Along With A New Orange Racing Color

Abarth will go EV-only in 2024 but before this happens the current models have one more year left to be enjoyed. The Italian brand is introducing the 2023 Abarth 595 / 695 range, which now features a simplified three-step configuration process while and adds a new Orange Racing shade to the color palette.

The new color is the only new feature for 2023. The Orange Racing is inspired by the Fiat 131 Racing Volumetrico Abarth from the ’70s. It also serves as a midpoint between the red and the yellow shades which have proven to be quite popular choices for Abarth models.

In line with the strategy of the Fiat parent company, Abarth introduced a new trim structure, making it easier for customers to spec their cars. The first step is to select between the 595 and the 695 models, which are available in either hatchback or convertible body styles. Then there is a choice between the Turismo and the Competizione trim. Finally, they can add the Tech Pack or the Comfort Pack according to their preferences.

The Abarth 595 comes fitted with a turbocharged 1.4-liter engine producing 163 hp (121 kW / 165 PS), while the Abarth 695 dials up the power to 177 hp (132 kW / 180 PS). Those options are carried over from last year when Abarth dropped the previously available less powerful guises.

Both the Turismo and the Competizione trims come standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, albeit with a different design. The Tech Pack includes the tried-and-tested 7-inch Navi infotainment system and automatic climate control, while the Comfort Pack adds features like the Beats audio system and Xenon headlights. The cool-looking Sabelt Carbon seats are optional and can only be combined with the Competizione trim.

Abarth didn’t announce pricing for the 2023 model range, but we suspect it will be quite similar to last year. 2023 also marks 15 years since the Scorpion brand introduced the original version of the current 500 Abarth in 2008, subjecting it to countless updates over the coming years in a quest to stay relevant in the hot hatch market.
