2023 Alpina B8 Gran Coupe Follows BMW 8 Series’ Footsteps With Glowing Grille

Alpina have given their take on the BMW 8-Series Gran Coupe a mild update for the 2023MY with glowing and colorful new details that mirror the changes seen on the recently facelifted 8-Series range.

Starting in March 2022, the Alpina B8 Gran Coupe will be available with a so-called BMW Iconic Glow kidney grille that gently illuminates the perimeter of the grille, accentuating the front end of the car.

The tuning house has also said it will be adding more colors to the lineup for 2023. Alpina Blue Metallic and Alpina Green will continue to be offered as exclusive shades and the company will also add a variety of BMW and BMW Individual paint finishes to its range of offerings.

First unveiled in March 2021, the B8 Gran Coupe is powered by a tuned version of BMW’s 4.4-liter bi-turbo V8 engine that produces 612 hp (621 PS/457 kW) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque, which is available from as low as 2,000 rpm.

From a standing start, the B8 Gran Coupe is capable of reaching 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 3.3 seconds and 124 mph (200 km/h) in 11.6 seconds. If there’s enough road, it can continue all the way to a top speed of 201 mph (324 km/h).

As ever, it is offered with subtle exterior modifications to make look a little better. The front fascia has big air intakes to cool the engine better. Around the back, meanwhile, it gets a black diffuser insert and a rear spoiler lip to better master the air. It also has 21-inch 20-spoke Alpina Classic forged wheels that are wrapped in Pirelli noise-canceling tires to make the ride more luxurious.

Alpina has also modified the suspension to be precise while also offering sumptuous comfort on long trips. With reinforced sway bars, stiffer suspension strut support mounts, a front axle with hydro mounts, and Eibach springs, the B8 Gran Coupe is designed to be as comfortable as it is precise.

Prices for the updated model will start at €162,100 ($182,624 USD at current exchange rates) in Germany. U.S. pricing has not been announced yet but the model started at $139,900 before this update.
