VinFast Partners With Electrify America To Offer Plug & Charge Access To Charging Network

Vietnamese electric car brand VinFast is partnering with Electrify America to offer Plug and Charge, as well as two complimentary charging sessions across the entire charging network.

Electrify America currently operates 3,500 individual chargers at over 800 charging station locations across the United States, and VinFast drivers will now be able to get their electric vehicle charged easier than ever with Plug & Charge.

Plug & Charge allows drivers to connect their smartphone to their vehicle and set up billing information through the VinFast app. All users have to do is pull up to a charging station and plug in their vehicle and the app will take care of everything else, including payment.

VinFast was established in 2017 with its headquarters in Hai Phong, Vietnam, and since then the brand has unveiled two models, the VF 8 and the VF 9, two SUVs with capacity for five and seven people respectively. The VF 8 features 316 miles of range, while the VF 9 can travel for 422 miles on a full charge.

VF 8 and VF 9 models with Plug & Charge enabled will be able to use the feature at Electrify America stations across the United States, which includes both 150kW and 350kW chargers, which is the fastest charging currently available.

Recently, VinFast announced that they would be building a manufacturing plant in Chatham County, North Carolina, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the government worth up to $2 billion.

Last month, Electrify America showed off its vision for the future of electric vehicle charging, which featured lounges and overhead canopies, as well as dedicated event spaces and valet services. The charging station giant hopes to have 10,000 chargers at 1,800 total charging stations in the United States and Canada by 2026 and is investing $2 billion over 10 years in Zero Emission Vehicle infrastructure, education, and access.
