The Human Horizons HiPhi Z Will Be An Electric Sedan Unlike Any Other

This is our first look at the production-ready HiPhi Z from the Chinese brand Human Horizons and it could very well become the most dramatically styled EV in existence.

Human Horizons first hit our radar in September 2020 with the unveiling of the HiPhi X, an all-electric SUV with a very futuristic design. Fast forward to December 2021 and Human Horizons unveiled its HiPhi Z concept, a dramatic sedan that looks more like a spaceship than a normal car. The HiPhi Z has now been spied in production guise, albeit covered in camouflage.

The exterior design of the road-going model is very similar to the concept. Kicking things off is a mesmerizing front end with a black faux grille, sharp creases, and aggressive lines. This prototype spied by Car News China was not equipped with the final production headlights but the finished model will likely have a very similar LED lighting array to the concept.

Along the sides of the Z, the dramatic shape of the panoramic glass roof catches the eye. The prototype has also been fitted with aero covers on the wheels and is rocking a set of Michelin tires measuring 255/45 front and 285/40 rear. One obvious difference between this test car and the Z concept is that this model has traditional wing mirrors rather than rear-facing cameras.

The rear of the car retains the same overall shape as the concept. As such, there is a spoiler stretching off from the roof and splitting the rear window in two. The concept had a dramatic LED light bar stretching the width of the rear and while this prototype only has temporary lights positioned low on bumper, we suspect the finished product will indeed have a prominent light bar.

A photo of the Human Horizons HiPhi Z’s interior was also snapped. It shows that the electric sedan will feature a digital instrument cluster and a large, portrait-oriented infotainment screen, rather than the horizontal display of the concept. The Z lacks the same third display as the HiPhi X, positioned directly in front of the passenger.

Powertrain details remain uncertain but should be similar to the X. As such, a 97 kWh battery is possible, as is a rear-wheel drive version with 299 HP and an all-wheel drive variant pumping out 598 HP.
