Jaguar Is Developing Its Own Bespoke Platform For Forthcoming EVs

Jaguar is developing a new platform for its future electric vehicles in-house.
The British car manufacturer will become an electric-only brand from 2025 onwards and was initially expected to source an EV platform from a third party. However, while speaking during an investors call, Jaguar Land Rover chief executive Thierry Bolloré confirmed the company is going it alone.
JLR chief financial officer Adrian Mardell revealed that the new platform is dubbed ‘Panthera’. It is unclear exactly why Jaguar has decided to develop its own platform but Autocar suggests it could have something to do with JLR design chief Gerry McGovern pushing for the company’s vehicles to look unique.
