As it turns out, the next Audi RS3 will be an all-electric

The Audi RS3 2022 is one of the most attractive cars in its segment, and at its heart is a five-cylinder engine. According to a new report, it will soon be time to buy one, as it will disappear from the market at the end of this generation. It will be replaced by an all-electric platform with all-wheel drive that accelerates from 0 to 60 in less than four seconds.

This news comes from the staff of Autocar, according to which sources within Audi itself have confirmed the move to full electrification for the next generation A3. This car is scheduled to be launched in the UK in 2027, and its sportier variants, the S3 and RS3, will also be electric.

Front-wheel drive will also be a thing of the past: the basic models in the family will be rear-wheel drive. All-wheel drive will also be available, which of course the RS3 will have as standard. The report suggests that Audi will use a dual engine and some form of torque vectoring.

The current 2022 RS3 has 401 hp (299 kW) and 359 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque. Combined with Quattro all-wheel drive and a mild rear differential, it accelerates from 0 to 60 in just 3.6 seconds, and its EV successor should achieve the same time, if not better.

The A3 family will be built on VW Group’s Scalable Systems Platform (SSP), designed for 800-volt electric architecture. Therefore, it should be able to achieve a range of about 80 miles in just 10 minutes of charging. This is significantly faster than the 400-volt system fitted in cars such as the Volkswagen ID.4.

The report also says that the new A3 will be slightly larger than the previous diesel model and that there will probably be a sedan and a hatchback version. Would you like to see what an electrified RS3 is capable of, or would you prefer the current model’s charismatic five-cylinder engine?
