Oh Yes, The Aston Martin DBX707 Is Quicker Than The Lamborghini Urus

The Lamborghini Urus has been the king of performance-focused SUVs over recent years but Aston Martin recently released an even faster version of the DBX designed to take the crown from Lamborghini. Has it done it?

To find out, CarWow recently had the opportunity to test out the DBX707 in the UK and while they can’t yet publish driving impressions, the automaker was more than happy for them to demonstrate its straight-line prowess against the Urus.

Things read very well for the DBX707 on paper. Aston Martin’s engineering team has massaged the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 of the standard model so it now pumps out 697 hp and 663 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque. Those are massive gains over the 542 hp and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of the standard SUV and give it more grunt than the Lamborghini Urus with its 641 hp and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm).

CarWow’s tests were performed in the rain and while that could produce inconsistent results, it does serve as a good test for the all-wheel drive systems used by both SUVs.

In the drag race from a standing start, the matte black Urus gets a slight jump off the line as the DBX707 encountered a little bit of wheelspin. However, it quickly overcame this issue and was able to effectively put its power to the ground, allowing it to sprint ahead of the Urus, a lead that it maintains as both super SUVs cross the finish line.

The DBX707 ultimately finished the quarter-mile in 11.7 seconds compared to the 12.0 seconds of the Urus. A rolling drag race is then held between the two and while the British SUV took a little while to downchange, it once again proved to have the advantage over its Italian rival.
