Lamborghini Delivered The First Two U.S. Countach LPI 800-4s At Monterey

The Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 celebrated its U.S. debut at Monterey Car Week with two striking examples shown to the public.

The two Countach LPI 800-4 models pictured are both customer cars and the only two that will land in North America finished in Luci Del Bosco and Bronzo Zante respectively. Lamborghini chief executive Stephan Winkelmann, head of design Mitja Borkert, and chief technical officer Rouven Mohr all attended the unveiling.

“As we initiate the first deliveries of the Countach in the U.S. to our valued customers, it is an honor to present these masterpieces to their owners at the Lamborghini Lounge Monterey,” Winkelmann said during the event. “The Countach has inspired the Lamborghini design DNA for decades and it was only fitting that we delivered the new Countach LPI 800-4 during the world-renowned Monterey Car Week celebrating automotive excellence. It is always very special for me to experience the excitement and emotion a customer senses when seeing their Lamborghini for the first time.”

Lamborghini first announced the Countach LPI 800-4 in August 2021 as a homage to the original Countach. It is based around the Sian FKP 37 which itself is based off the decade-old Aventador and will be capped at just 112 examples worldwide.

In creating the car, the Italian manufacturer attempted to make it look like a modern-day interpretation of the original Countach. While the jury is still out on whether or not it was successful, the fact that all examples quickly sold out proves that for Lamborghini’s clientele, it has been a very successful design exercise.

The Countach LPI 800-4’s powertrain is shared with the Sian FKP 37. As such, it is equipped with a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 coupled to a hybrid system that delivers a total of 803 hp through all four wheels. It can hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.8 seconds, 124 mph (200 km/h) in 8.6 seconds, and tops out at 220.5 mph (355 km/h).
