Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, BMW M5 CS, And Nissan GT-R Deliver Incredible Performance In Different Ways

If you want a car that will rocket off the line in rainy conditions, then you need one with all-wheel drive. Fittingly, CarWow had three high-powered, all-wheel drive cars at its disposal when it put together its latest drag race.

The three cars in question were a Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, a BMW M5 CS, and a Nissan GT-R Nismo. Obviously, these three cars do not rival each other and compete in very different segments but one thing they do have in common is staggering straight-line performance.

On paper, the Aventador SVJ should be the quickest. It sports a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 with 759 hp and 531 lb-ft (720 Nm) of torque. By comparison, the BMW M5’s twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 is good for 635 hp and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque. Last but not least is the older Nissan GT-R Nismo with its 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 delivering 600 hp and 481 lb-ft (652 Nm).

In the first race, the M5 CS and Aventador SVJ get off the line equally well but it is the Lamborghini that quickly establishes a lead and sprints away for an easy victory. The driver of the GT-R Nismo forgot that the car’s transmission was in its manual mode and ended up slamming into the limiter in first gear, ruining its chances.

The second race is particularly interesting as it is the M5 CS that jumps out ahead of the Aventador SVJ and holds on to its lead for the almost entire race and is only passed by the Italian supercar in the final few yards. The GT-R Nismo launched better than in the first race but was still left behind by the other two.
