Dodge Charger And Challenger TRX Renders Propose Monstrous Off-Road Variants

This article includes independent renderings by Oscar Vargas who is neither related to nor endorsed by Dodge.

Dodge is one of the few automakers that don’t have an SUV-dominated lineup. Despite being originally unveiled over a decade ago, the Charger and the Challenger are holding up pretty well, making us wonder what else could Dodge do to them before the fully-electric era. Digital artist Oscar Vargas, known as wb.artist20 on Instagram, created a set of renderings proposing TRX variants of both models featuring increased ground clearance and SUV-style bodykits.

Adding plastic cladding on sports sedans is not something new, since the Subaru Impreza WRX has already introduced such an approach. The TRX however is clearly an off-road trim that means a lot more than just a bodykit. Taking inspiration from the RAM 1500 TRX, the digital artist gave a full makeover to the Charger and Challenger making them look like monster trucks.

It all starts with the black-painted bodykit including a new front bumper styled after the TRX, different grilles, hood-mounted lights, aluminum-style skid plates, fender add-ons, and rock sliders. Most importantly, the models got the wheels of the RAM TRX with 18-inch rims shod in custom 35-inch Goodyear Territory all-terrain tires. The end result doesn’t look like something we could see on the road but it is an interesting idea at least for a custom build. High-riding sedans and muscle cars have not yet been a thing but you never know.

Since this is entirely fictional, if we had to choose one we would get the Dodge Ramcharger TRX for the extra practicality offered by the four-door bodystyle. It would definitely not drive as well on the road as the standard model but the 6.2-liter V8 with 702 hp (523 kW / 712 PS) and 650 lb-ft (880 Nm) of torque would give it more than enough grunt to tackle off-road obstacles.
