Did Frank Stephenson Just Say The Gordon T.33 Looks Like A Fish?

The Gordon Murray T.33 won’t reach the hands of customers for quite some time but it has already sold out and promises to be a very exciting supercar.

Like its bigger brother the T.50, this new car is powered by a 3.9-liter naturally-aspirated Cosworth V12 engine that revs to 11,100 rpm. It pumps out 607 hp and 333 lb-ft (451 Nm) of torque and will no doubt result in a truly remarkable driving experience. It’s impossible not to be impressed by the powertrain but what does a designer like Frank Stephenson think about its design?

This latest video from the legendary car designer discusses the T.33 in depth and starts at the car’s front end. According to Stephenson, the front of the T.33 is very understated and if you watch some videos of Murray discussing the car, you’ll discover that this was intentional.

However, Stephenson suggests that it may be a little too understated and says that it somewhat looks like an Axolotl, a strange fish. He adds that he also sees a resemblance to the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti with the headlights and design lines running over the front quarter panels.

Viewed from the side, he says that the side is essentially “clutterless.” This may not be the most exciting design choice but it is very well done and is “pure and sensual” he adds. Stephenson is particularly impressed with the design of the roof scoop that isn’t actually part of the roof and instead fixed directly to the top of the engine, feeding it with cool air.
