Acura To Offer 2 Years Of Free Maintenance On All 2023 Models, Claims Leaked Doc

While unconfirmed by Acura at the moment, it seems very likely that every 2023 model will come with complimentary maintenance for up to two years or 24,000-miles. If true, it’ll be a break away from the brand’s previous practice of offering a maintenance package buyers could pay for. There’s no word on whether or not parent company, Honda, will offer a similar program for its models.

Posted over on IntegraTalk.com, the screenshot purports to show a slide that was shown at a dealer presentation. On it, we see a bunch of details that will be part of the reported rollout. The new ‘Acura Plan’ will apply to all 2023 models including the new Integra.

According to the document, it will cover those vehicles for up to two years or 24,000-miles, whichever comes first, with regard to regular maintenance. That includes all oil changes, multi-point inspections, or tire rotations over that timeline. We can imagine most dealers won’t be wildly happy to lose out on the revenue those services might have generated previously.

On the screenshot, Acura points to a number of benefits that they hope will soothe dealers’ concerns. Not only does Acura feel that this adds value, and it clearly does, but they hope it will strengthen the relationship between owners and dealerships. No doubt, it will get many owners in the habit of bringing their vehicle to the dealer and not an independent shop.

Dealers notoriously make the vast majority of their profits based on service, not sales. Despite that, complimentary maintenance programs have become more and more popular in recent years. Many European brands offer similar programs and even Toyota and Lexus have jumped on board with the idea.

Honda has been a standout since it still doesn’t offer any similar program so perhaps this is a sign that things are changing. In a world where just luxury brands like BMW are offering free service Honda could sit back but times are changing.

Now that Hyundai, Toyota, Subaru, and others are starting to add value through complimentary maintenance, hopefully, Honda will follow suit as well. Either way, we’re glad to see it’ll most likely be a part of every new Acura including the Integra.
