1:1 Scale LEGO Technic Lamborghini Sián FKP 37 Goes On Display, Made Out Of 400,000+ Pieces
f you thought the 1:8 scale, 3,696 piece LEGO Technic Lamborghini Sián FKP 37 from 2020 was child’s play, you’re in luck as the two companies have now put the 1:1 scale model on display.
Originally introduced last summer, the car is constructed out of more than 400,000 pieces and took 5,370 hours of development as well as 3,290 hours of production. That means the car took nearly 224 days to complete and it’s made out of 154 different types of LEGO Technic pieces including 20 that were molded specifically for this model.
This was quite an endeavor and it was brought to life by “15 design, engineering and construction specialists from the LEGO team” in the Czech Republic. They had their work cut out for them as this is the first LEGO model to use a hexagonal shape to form the outer shell of the vehicle, and this better captures the lines of the road-going model.
The special touches don’t end there as the scale model features working front and rear lights made entirely from LEGO Technic pieces. Furthermore, the car was given a “paint-effect coating” using official Lamborghini paint and this promises to help the scale model retain its pristine appearance for the foreseeable future.
The end result is an impressive work of art that weighs 4,850 lbs (2,200 kg), which is actually more than the road-going model that tipped the scales at 3,516 lbs (1,595 kg) dry. It’s also worth noting the interior wasn’t overlooked as it features sport seats and a flat-bottomed steering wheel complete with a Lamborghini badge.
The 1:1 scale model will be on display at the Museo Automobili Lamborghini in Sant’Agata Bolognese until October 6th and LEGO’s Lena Dixen said, “Our designers love challenges, so you can imagine how delighted they were when we asked them to work on this model and look at things in a slightly bigger way than usual.”
